History….In the spring of 2007, Manheim citizens were shocked the Manheim Central School Board was planning to close Stiegel Elementary without proper procedure/communications/legal process. Furthermore, it was discovered that there was not the budget deficit as the business manager had stated. Add to that, the board was proposing a 5.4% tax increase! In just weeks community members pulled together and MCTA was formed and became the “voice of the community”. As needed, they organized a campaign and endorsed five citizens willing to run for school board. The community showed their desire for change within our schools district and voted against all incumbents. ‘07 was a historic election year in Manheim! Did the addition of these board members in ‘07make the promised changes ….the answer is NO! Citizens still persevere and attend board and committee meetings to observe and comment. Very poor, ill-informed decisions are still being made by the school board.
NOW…MCTA has had two years to determine who should be endorsed for the new five seats this coming year. WHO WILL STAND UP FOR EDUCATION AND KIDS? WHO WILL REPRESENT THE TAXPAYERS?
We want you to meet them!
These five have been attending MC board and committee meetings regularly. They have committed to serving the children AND taxpayers of our district. They are NOT politicians and they do not have hidden interests. They simply want to do what is best for our kids in a fiscally responsible way. They are familiar with how the district works and will continue to learn. They are NOT afraid to ask the tough questions. They have committed to work in cooperation to bring communication and due process back into our district.

Kim Garner has grown up Manheim PROUD! She brings to the table communication skills along with the work ethic, and the dedication that it takes to work with others for the good of the students and community.

Holly Holsinger has demonstrated that she will make financially responsible decisions. She will work hard to have open communication both within the district and with the community.

Bryan Howett brings over 15 years of financial accounting and management experience to the board. He believes that a quality education is possible without overburdening our taxpayers.

Ken Kowalski plans on bringing a fresh perspective to the school board through his experiences and common sense. He truly believes that a school board member, as elected by the taxpayers, needs to remain accountable to them at all times.

Linda Williams brings 30 years of teaching experience, working with children, teachers and administrators, as well as board members to the table. She is committed to making “common sense” decisions based on the needs of students.
