Administrative Bonuses
Without debate or public input, the Manheim Central School board issued over $65,000 in administrative bonuses. This comes only six short months after the School Board claimed that the district had a $1 million budgeted deficit. In August, $40,000 in bonuses were given out to 17 administrators for a pilot project to mentor 8th grade students who were labled "struggling students". In September, 5 of administrators received an additional $5,000 on top of their previous bonus of $2,222.
Transportation Concerns There are still many concerns over the current transportation situation that need to be reviewed and addressed. A member of the Manheim Central Taxpayers Alliance requested that School Board launch a task force, including parents, business leaders and transportation professionals to review the problems and concerns within the district.
Accountability
It was discovered that the Board was not keeping minutes of the meetings of the Board Governance Committee. A ‘Right to Know’ request was submitted to respectfully establish concern on this matter The administration subsequently maintained minutes of this committee meeting.

Silencing Teachers
The Gag Rule (school board policy 453) requires teachers to remain silent on issues that appear to have no relationship to normal standards of confidentiality. Why are teachers not allowed to discuss operations, activities, and business affairs of a public entity? Are the affairs so secretive that public discussion by those most knowledgeable is forbidden?
Tax Increase
Manheim Central Taxpayers Alliance is happy to announce that the Manheim Central School Board declined their original proposal to increase our school taxes by 5.6% for the 2007-2008 school year. MCTA adamantly and successfully opposed this proposed tax increase. MC fund balances (amount of funds on hand) are at their highest rate in many years, higher than the state-recommended balances.
