Welcome to the Manheim Central Taxpayers Alliance

The MCTA is a group that believes that the School Board should not be about partisan politics or personal political agendas. In contrast, It should be about what is best for our students and our community. Therefore, we do not affiliate ourselves with any particular political party.

In 2007, it was learned that a hasty, ill-informed effort was undertaken by the School Board to close Stiegel Elementary and overcrowd classrooms in the remaining elementary schools. This was being done without public inclusion or following the proper legal channels. In addition, a proposal to increase millage rates by 5.4% was being proposed. In response, and with only a few short weeks to prepare and choose candidates, the MCTA endorsed 5 candidates for the School Board hoping to provide an immediate and positive change. Sadly, we were disappointed that some of the candidates did not succeed in bringing about the type of change the MCTA was hoping for.

The School Boards most recent act of disregard for the citizens of our community came in the form of excessive pay increases given to administrators in the face of the worst economic climate in two decades. Some of these increases were in excess of $20,000.00. When many MCTA and other community members requested an explanation from board members who supported this increase, we were met with silence. This is evidence that further change is required on this School Board.

Therefore, after a lengthy process, the MCTA is endorsing 5 new candidates for the School Board that will rebuild and restore the communities trust in the School Board. They will balance the needs of the students and the taxpayers. They will ensure that students are receiving the best quality education. They will eliminate spending that does not benefit the students or community.

To achieve educational excellence through financially prudent policies while balancing the needs of the school district and the fiscal health of the community.

  • To ensure Quality education for our children

  • To include community involvement and representation in all areas of the Manheim Central School District

  • To promote the implementation of an equitable tax structure to fund the public schools
